Over View About Uganda

The Republic of Uganda, is located in Eastern Africa, is a landlocked country occupying a total area of 241,550.7 square kilometres - 18% of which is open inland waters and wetlands.

It lies astride the equator and is bordered by the Republic of South Sudan to the North, Kenya to the East, Tanzania to the South, Rwanda to the South West and Democratic Republic of Congo to the West.

Uganda lies astride the Equator between longitudes 29 ½° East and 35° East and between latitudes 4 ½° North and ½° South, at an average altitude of 1,100 meters above sea- level. 

Uganda has an estimated population of about 34.5 million people and a population growth rate of 3.2%, one of the highest in the world (Source; Uganda Bureau of Statistics).

The country is currently governed under a multiparty system following a national referendum in July 2005, which opened the door for political parties to contest for leadership.  Since then, the country has held three elections under the multiparty system (2006, 2011 and 2016) won by the incumbent President Yoweri Kaguta. Museveni, who first came to power in 1986.

Above is Nakato Juliet Ivy. She is a wonderful, bright and God fearing girl, she likes studying so much. Currently she is studying at  St. Joseph Girls S.S.S Nsambya. This year 2016, Ivy completed form two and was promoted to form Three. Her dream is to become a Medical Doctor so that she can help diagnose and treat the sick. Ivy has not not got a sponsor yet and  we request you to take up. with a monthly contribution of US$100, you can enable Ivy to comfortably study through out the year. 

Appearing above is Ssewalinte Wasswa Gerald a student in senior two at World Ahead Senior Secondary School- Matugga. Gerald's dream is to become a Lawyer but despite that he likes farming. He has been promoted to form Three. He has not secured a sponsor.  with a monthly contribution of US$72, you can enable Gerald to comfortably study through out the year.  .

Above is Nabyesero Faith Michelle, she is a bright pupil in class, she has completed Primary Seven at St. Kizito Learning Center - Mityana and she expects to pass with flying colors. in 2017 she will be joining form One. Michelle is a well disciplined girl. she enjoys doing  domestic work. with a monthly contribution of US$100, you can enable Michelle to comfortably study through out the year. 

Namiyingo Marian Mellisa has been promoted  Primary Three at Kibuuka Mixed Primary School  Wakiso. She is a good child in class and participates in home work.Like any other child, Marian enjoys to play with others  with a monthly contribution of US$50, you can enable Marian to comfortably study through out the year. 

Alvin Moses Kakooza is 5 years and he he is now in Middle Class Very bright and playful   with a monthly contribution of US$36, you can enable Alvin to comfortably study through out the year. 

Volunteer Accomodation Hostels Now Available

We are glad to inform you that in 2015, Center for Community Transformation (Cecot Center) managed to raise a hostel structure with the aim of providing accommodation for our volunteers who may be interested in share a typical village lifestyle as they share their expertise, time with our community.

Both the upper and the lower are the same thing only taken from different angles. Although these accomodation facilities are not yet finished in our setting they can host some one. thanks to my Aunt Ms. Veronica Nanyondo - a teacher for the financial support that was used to raise this structure

Health Camp to mark World Malaria Day 2016 at Kibyayi Village Mubende district

Background

In 2014 Center for Community Transformation (Cecot Center) marked the  World Malaria on the 25th Day April, 2015 in Mubende at Kibyayi Village. The turn up was wornderful, the community exprexxpresed real needs for the medical services World Malaria Day Successfully Marked - Activities - Pictorial .

One of our key interventions is to support Government by promoting and providing health services to the under privileged communities.This 2016 Cecot Center is organizing a Health Camp to mark the World Malaria Day on 25th April 2016 at Kibyayi Village in Mubende district.

What will be done
Prior to this day we will carry out sensitization campaigns against Malaria, HIV /AIDS and other common  diseases that affect our community  in schools and to community at large. On Monday 25th April 2016, we will then test and offer treatment for malaria, offer HIV counseling and testing (HCT) services, Test for Pressure, TB Screening, Diabetes, cancer, detection of pregnancy among school going adolescents and family planning services.

Early detection of pregnancy among adolescents in Mubende district Secondary Schools

After a series of series of requests from parents and  the local leaders and our own surveys, Center for Community Transformation has  decided to carry out a project targeting  school going adolescents ( aged 13 year -  18years) with the  aim at preventing early pregnancies, pregnancy and child birth related diseases/death and  reduce on the girl child school drop out  rate in the district. This will be done three times a year. In the 1st term, the second term and third term  at least within the first 14 days of their reporting back to school.

Of course this intervention will handle even counseling and testing of HIV /AIDS and other STI's for the same target group.

i believe this is going to help and cause great impact on our community majority of which is within the age bracket of 13 - 18years

Family Planning training for rural Women

The last 2 weeks of May 2015 and 1st week week of June 2015 Center for community transformation mobilized, conducted awareness and training for women about family planning services.The decision to take women is majorly because  they suffer a lot during pregnancy yet the mantle of caring for the family members largely rests on their shoulders, secondly the other objective was to educate them about the burden of having many children in a home and the advantages of having spaced births and few numbers of children in  the home
